| How can you make such large prints and wall murals? And won't they look blurry that large?
Our images are created using large format film and super high resolution digital files. This allows us to make large photographic prints and murals that have vivid colors and details. For print sizes 16x24 inches and smaller you really can't see too much difference between images that were made using traditional 35mm camera equipment and images that were made using larger formats. When viewing large photographic prints and wall murals, the difference is quite noticeable. Please keep in mind that the proper viewing distance for a large wall mural is at least 3 to 4 feet from the image. Of course a 8x24 foot wall mural is not going to be as crisp and sharp as a 16x24 inch photographic print. However, I feel that you will be more than pleased with the image quality. We have a number of satisfied clients who have purchased our murals printed to 10x30 feet. Is it possible to see a sample of the image I selected that is printed at the actual wall mural size? Sure. As part of our custom mural ordering process, you will receive a printed strike-off of the mural you select for preview before we print the full room-size mural. This strike-off will show a smaller image of your entire mural and a detailed section of your mural printed at 100% size. The strike-off is printed on the actual wall covering material you selected. How much does a custom strike-off cost? We offer this as a free service when ordering our room-size photo murals. Most companies charge extra for this service. It does add several days to the custom ordering process. However, we feel that it is an important step when ordering a room-size custom wall mural. Do I really need to wait for a strike-off to be made? It is really up to you. Most customers find it reassuring to see an actual sample of their custom wall mural before the final mural is printed. It can be difficult to judge actual colors and textures from the limitations of images shown on the web. However, if you are in a time crunch, we can skip the strike-off step. How are your photography murals printed? Our photo murals are digitally printed using 6-color inks and at a full 1400 dpi resolution for maximum color and durability. Some companies print using only 4 colors of ink and at lower resolutions. (Using machines that were designed for printing bill boards) What type of wallcovering material are your photo murals printed on? We offer a selection of wall covering substrates to choose from. My personal favorite is our premium Sandstone textured media. It has a subtle textured pattern (that hides hand prints), is non-reflective and our images look great printed on it. I don't have room for a large wall mural. Do you offer murals in smaller sizes? Yes, our photo murals are available in smaller sizes like 3x6 feet, 3x9 feet, 4x6 feet, 4 x9 feet and 4x12 feet. We call these "Mini-Murals". They are printed in one piece, so there are be no seems to work with during installation. In addition to our Standard Satin and Premium Sandstone materials, Mini-Murals are also available with a peel-off adhesive backing that requires no paste, for easy installation. (Mini-Murals in sizes up to 56 inches x 168 inches are printed in one piece with no seems.) Do you print "wall paper murals" in your studio? After testing a number of wall covering mural options, we decided to work with an experienced wall covering print company. Just to clarify, our photo murals are not "wall paper", (made from paper). Our room size murals are printed using quality vinyl wall covering substrates and durable solvent inks . We prepare each digital file for size and color balance in our studio and then send the digital files to the wall covering printer we partner with for final production. There are less costly options available, but we want to offer our clients the best quality and best looking wall murals possible. Can I install a large room-size wall mural myself ? It is possible if you are experienced in hanging wall paper. However, I would recommend that you hire a professional paperhanger for the best results. You can search for experienced paperhangers by zip code at the National Guild of Professional Paperhangers web site. (We are an associate member of the NGPP.) Where can I find instructions about installing one of your photo murals? We offer general installation instructions on our web site. You will also find additional links to several PDF files that provide more detailed instructions and specifications. Are the seams smooth where the vertical mural strips come together ? Yes, our murals are printed with a 1/2 inch image overlap at the seams to allow for "double cutting" the seams during installation. Photo murals are printed in vertical strips approximately 50 inches wide and the full height of your wall, so there will be a minimal number of seams in your photo mural. What images do you have to choose from? You will find about sixty of our popular wall mural images in the gallery section of this web site. For a larger selection of images, visit our searchable panoramic image library at www.WideImages.com where you will find more than 1,000 high resolution panoramic images to choose from. Why do the images look dark on my computer monitor? Computer monitors can vary quite a bit on how they display images. Is your monitor calibrated? You can use this simple calibration tool to adjust the contrast or brightness of your monitor. If you are using a laptop computer, try tilting your screen back and forth to adjust the brightness also. The small image files on our web site can not come close to showing the full range of color and details found in our printed photographs. Is there any way for me to see a an image larger? Sure. When viewing images found on our WideImages.com web site, you can view a larger version of the image by "clicking on the image thumbnail". If you would like to see an image even larger .. Just contact us using the on-line form and let us know which image/images you would like to see larger. We will email a larger image file to you. At this time there are limitations to how large of file we can put on our web server and still have the images load fast. This situation will improve as internet band width increases. My wall isn't large enough for a full 3:1 ratio panoramic image. How are the images cropped to fit a smaller wall space? If an image needs to be cropped, we don't just trim a little off the ends to fit your wall. We crop the panorama image you selected for the best composition to fit your wall space. If you would like, David can email a jpg file to you showing his suggested cropping of an image to fit your wall space. Or if you prefer, you may show us how you would like an image cropped. How long does it take for a custom mural to be made? Allow about 2-3 weeks from the time you order until the time you receive your mural. Once we receive your order, we prepare a digital file of your mural sized and cropped to your specifications. In about a week you will receive a strike-off of your mural by UPS. After we receive your approval of the strike-off (by telephone or email) we will start printing your full size mural. We let the mural dry overnight before packing and shipping by UPS. If you have a tight deadline, it is usually possible to rush the timetable and delivery. How much are the shipping charges ? We offer free shipping to anywhere within the continental United States by UPS ground. For expedited shipping we can either use your shipping account number (FedEx or UPS) or charge you the actual shipping costs for next day or 2nd day shipping. Do you ship outside of the United States? Yes. We can provide an estimate for shipping charges outside of the United States. A large mural printed on commercial grade wall covering material will weigh nearly 30 pounds. As an example, shipping to the UK using 3-5 day air service will cost around $250.00 for shipping. You will be responsible for any additional duties or taxes your country might require. Are your images available as photographs printed on canvas or photographic paper? Yes. We actually have another web site set up for ordering our large scale photographs printed on canvas and photographic art papers at www.Photography-Artwork.com, Photographs are available in custom sizes and shapes in sizes ranging from 16x24 inches to 40x120 inches. Images are also available as a Diptych or a triptych in a variety of sizes. What is the difference between one of your large "canvas prints" and a small "wall paper mural"? Both are available in a 3 foot x 9 foot size (36x108 inches). Our canvas photographs are printed in our studio using Ultrachrome pigmented inks and genuine artists canvas. Our wall paper murals are printed with solvent based inks on 54" strips of fabric-backed vinyl wall covering material. While the vinyl wallpaper/solvent ink combination is very durable (and looks very nice) ... the color palette is more limited than our genuine canvas/pigmented ink combination. Do you accept credit cards? Yes, we accept Visa, MasterCard, Discover and American Express. We will E-mail an "online invoice" as a PDF file to you along with a link to our secure web page for online payments. If you prefer, we can also take your credit card information over the telephone or by fax . Do I provide my credit card information to you when filling out the "online order form"? No, we will confirm all the details of your custom mural and provide a delivery date estimate by E-mail along with a PDF file of the order. You may then use our secure (VeriSign Secured) web page for entering your credit card information. |
